Location is private on a heavily wooded hill. It is very secluded and barely visible when leaves are on trees.
Hand built by owner/contractor using cypress logs and trim on exterior and Post & Beam pegged interior! Quality of construction and attention to details are extremely excellent! Most flooring is wood with marble & tile baths and kitchen.
First floor is walkout workshop with access to crawl space and a lower parking space.
Second floor is Master Suite with walk-in closet, tile shower, whirlpool tub and private deck. Also located on this floor are a laundry room, bunkroom and a family room with TV with French doors leading to a lower deck. Inside spiral staircase leads upstairs to main floor.
Third floor (main level) has a bedroom, bath with shower, complete kitchen, dining room, living room with 53” stone fireplace and a private study. Main deck has a grill and outdoor patio furniture and log storage for fireplace.
Leading from main level to fourth floor is a staircase that was made from trees taken off the property where the house is located. The steps are mortised in with bolts and pegs. Located on Fourth floor is Master Suite with large bathroom – shower, closet and chaise lounge for reading. There are two 6’ dormer windows and dormer with door leading to a private balcony.
Both second and third floors have 12’ x 26’ decks. Front porch has 4 rocking chairs for comfort & relaxation.
Drive is 800ft paved with circle at top and parking for 3 or 4 cars.
From the side of the house is an electric log lift, which takes fireplace logs to deck on entrance level where fireplace is just inside French doors.
Heating and cooling are with two high efficiency heat pumps. House includes a private well and septic system on 5+/- very mountainous terrain.
Although bear sightings are rare, their footprints have graced our property as they’ve roamed the mountains from time to time. Great hiking and mountain has lots of 4 Wheel trails to explore. It’s a great place to read, relax, write, study – a quiet get away from it all!! If you want real solitude and enjoy the quiet sounds from nature then this is a must see!!!
The house is ideal for 3 couples each having a private deck/balcony on separate levels…Or someone needing a peaceful get away to study or write … Or a family get together with beds enough to sleep 10!
It is located 5 minutes from Cedar Creek Riding Stables, 15 minutes from Apple Valley Golf Course and Azalea Restaurant and 20 minutes down to Lake Lure, 30 minutes to Rutherfordton, 45 minutes to Hendersonville or Flat Rock Playhouse, 1 hour to Asheville or Brevard, NC or Greenville, SC!!
Those who are looking for recreational
activities or cultural events will have plenty of entertainment
choices – the Lake Lure, NC area offers fishing, swimming,
a variety of boat tours, hiking Chimney Rock Park, golf and
horseback riding. Additionally, The Biltmore Estate is nearby
in Asheville, as well as the Flat Rock Playhouse near Hendersonville
and the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC.
